‘I will not be shammed!’ Yvonne Okwara angrily addresses follower

Yvonne Okwara is one of the few female journalists who is not afraid to say it as it is.

She was previously hosting a segment on KTN dubbed My Take – where she takes head on taboo topics affecting the country. Topics that people do not want to talk about publicly. Now she is referred to as the tough journalist. Probably why her segment on Citizen TV is popular a few months after joining Royal Media Services.

In the spirit of fulfilling her job, she took to social media to pose a  question hours after the CBD ban took effect in Nairobi. On Monday 3rd December, no matatu was allowed to enter the CBD as ordered by governor Sonko.

In as much as all he wants is the best for the country, yesterday was one tough day for Nairobi residents. So much so that persons with disabilities, elderly and pregnant women were forced to walk long distances.

Yvonne Okwara put the government to task asking what their plan is for people with disabilities (PWD’s).

What about the media houses you work in? Any plans to highlight and promote issues of the PWDs? Their buildings are disability friendly?

Seems like this is a topic of human interest that needs to be looked into hard!
