Jamhuri Festival 2018 set for December – KBC

Celebrate Jamhuri Day this year with Art, music and fashion at the 3rd Jamhuri Festival

JamhuriThis year’s Jamhuri Festival promises to be better than the last with a fusion of Arts, fashion, music and other activities taking place at six different Nairobi venues much like the international South by Southwest (SXSW) festival.

The annual Jamhuri festival, which is currently in its third year, is a platform to inspire and introduce Africa’s diverse musical talent to a new and wider audience through interaction, collaboration and cooperation among artists. The festival’s goal is also to build a strong brand connection with the young in Kenya and Africa.

“As a unit, we have had such an amazing educational year since last year’s edition. We have worked with exceptional artists, as well as hosted some major gigs. All this and experience has led us to curate for our audience this year a show that will carry the spirit of what we have experienced; the blood, sweat, tears and a whole lot of joy and love.” Tom Olang’o, founder and curator of the festival said.

The festival will open with a special and nostalgic showcase to celebrate Kenya’s Independence Day. All nine venues will feature Kenya’s top music acts with performances from upcoming musicians.

The direction of the festival this year is to highlight the stars of tomorrow and today. As in the past, scripted performances will be part of the show. Some will feature both young stars and established stars.

“I know that through song and dance many will relate and get to appreciate our perspective of life. It will be a worthwhile experience for all. Come experience Kenya’s beautiful art and talent. I am particularly passionate about the young generation because I am a part of this amazing resurgence and revolution of Kenyan music. Expect a world-class scripted performance by some young acts to look out for.” He also added.
