Saturday November 24, 2018-Nominated Senator, Isaac Mwaura, has asked the Director of Criminal Investigations(DCI) to launch investigations into claims by a section of Rift Valley lawmakers that Deputy President William Ruto was involved in the Maize scandal.
Early this week, three Rift Valley MPs led by Nandi Hills MP, Alfred Keter, and his Cherangangy and Moiben counterparts Joshua Kutuny and Silas Tiren asked the government to probe Ruto over the Maize scandal.
The MPs also claimed that Ruto has bought 500,000 acres of land in Congo where he is planning to import the maize to Kenya saying this will disenfranchise
maize farmers in the country.
Commenting on the issue on Radio Jambo, Mwaura supported MPs sentiments and asks the government to investigate the DP over maize scandal.
Mwaura stressed on the need for a closer and keener view into the issue, terming it surprising that the allegations are originating from people who should be defending the DP in real sense.
“Ukiona vyaelea vimeundwa na palipo na moshi hapakosi moto. Maneno haya hayajatoka kwingine ila kwa watu wake wenyewe. Hii inamaanisha lazima kuna kasoro mahali. (This is proof enough that there is a problem somewhere),” Mwaura said.
