Jamuhuri residents doing business a long Ngong’ Road today woke up to a rude shock following sudden demolition exercise that left prime hotel in rubble.
According to the residents they were not given any notice to that effect blaming a private developer of not following the law to evict them.
‘‘We have been doing business here since 1994 I wonder how someone claims that this is public land that belongs to him, we are not going to allow him.’’ One Mechanic lamented.
The eviction exercise is said to have started at exactly 3am.
Police presence scared off the affected business owners and mechanics forcing them to watch at bay.
Meanwhile Nairobi governor Mike Mbuvi Sonko has distanced himself from that demolition saying the court did not alert him.
He urged Chief justice David Maraga to work with his office closely on any demolitions orders.
He stopped the demolitions which he termed as illegal, with immediate effect.
