Turnover at NSE Inches to KSh 495.2 Million

Turnover at the Nairobi Securities Exchange(NSE) climbed slightly to KSh 495.17 Million at the end of trading on 27th August, 2020. This is on a volume of 20.29 Million shares transacted in 1,084 deals.

Safaricom was the biggest mover transacting a volume of 10.41 Million shares followed by Absa (2.24 Million), Nairobi Securities Exchange( 1.80 Million), Equity ( 1.49 Million) and Co-operative Bank(1.22 Million).

The NSE 20 Share Index rose 10.54 points from 1760.64 to 1771.18 while the NSE 25 Share Index increased by 57.47 points from 3106.01 to 3163.48, an increase of 1.85%.

The NSE All-Share Index increased by 1.49% or 2.02 from 135.24 to 137.26 points.

The top gainer was Sameer Africa whose share price rose 10% to KSh 3.85 followed by Express Kenya whose price rose 7.66% to KSh 4.50. The share price of Umeme Limited increased by 6.34% to KSh 7.04 followed by Equity whose price increased 4.74% to KSh 36.45.

Closing up the top 5 gainers was I&M Holdings whose share price increased 4.53% after the lender announced its 2020 half-year earnings today.

The biggest loser was Liberty Kenya whose share price dipped 9.41% to KSh 7.70. It was followed by Nairobi Business Ventures, WPP ScanGroup, East African Cables and Uchumi.

The derivatives market had 6 contracts valued at KSh 195,370 concluded in today’s trading session. This is compared to 3 contracts valued at KSh 98,500 concluded in yesterday’s trading session.

The secondary bond market recorded an increase in activity bonds worth KSh3.11 Billion achieved in 134 deals compared to KSh 4.95 Billion achieved in 142 deals in yesterday’s session.
