Qatar won the hosting rights for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in December 2010 after beating Australia, Japan, South Korea during the bidding process.

However, the hosting rights could be withdrawn from Qatar following Michel Platini’s arrest by the France’s financial prosecutor’s office.

The former UEFA president was the acting FIFA president when the 2022 hosts won the right to stage the next edition of the competition, and he was found culpable in the process.

Platini was taken into custody on Tuesday morning despite rejecting any wrongdoing in the bidding that awarded Qatar the hosting right.

Meanwhile, there are indications that middle-eastern country can be stripped off the rights, and five other countries have been listed as possible hosts of the tournament, according to Mirror (UK).

1. England

They last hosted the championship in 1966 and won the tournament the same year.

Due to their thriving domestic league, they have stadia in almost ready shape to stage the competition in the next three years.

2. USA

The last time the hosted the world was in 1994 when Brazil went ahead to rule the world at the end of the tourney.

3. Spain

They were the hosts in 1982 and reached the second round. Since then Spain went on to dominate the international stage from 2008 to 2012.

Camp Nou, Santiago Bernabeu, Wanda Metropolitano.

4. Argentina

The last time the south America country held the tournament was in 1978, and they are a possible host for the 2022 events.

5. The Netherlands

They have never played host to the world at the senior level of the competition, and they will give anything to be awarded the rights for the 2022 edition.

The 63-year-old was elected as UEFA president in 2007 until he was banned by the FIFA Ethics Committee for a series of breaches in 2015.
