Put was named Harambee Stars coach in November 2017 and helped Kenya win the 2017 Cecafa Senior Challenge Cup that was staged in Kenya.

Three months after his appointment, he stunned Football Kenya Federation when he tendered his resignation letter.

He would later be officially unveiled as Guinea coach.

He now joins a growing list of coaches who have been shown the door after an unimpressive campaign in the continental tournament.
