‘Avengers’ Star Robert Downey Jr’s Instagram Account Just Got Hacked

Ultron, is that you? Robert Downey Jr., star of Marvel’s Iron Man and Avengers movies, has been the victim of a cyber attack. The actor’s Instagram account was briefly taken over by hackers this week before order was restored.

“I’m sorry to say my Instagram has been compromised,” Downey Jr. wrote on Instagram. “Please steer clear for the time being until it’s sorted. Thank you all.” He signed off with one of his best-known lines from Endgame: I love you 3000.”

He then announced shortly after that he had regained control of his Instagram in a throwback post which referenced the malevolent cyber-villain Ultron that he battled in the MCU:

Turns out, even superheroes aren’t invulnerable to internet scammers, and Iron Man isn’t the only one. Earlier this week, Aquaman star Jason Momoa mysteriously started posting spammy ads for iPhones, iPads, Teslas and gift cards on his Instagram feed — it soon became evident that the account had been attacked by a bot.

“Well, I officially got hacked and I really don’t know what the fuck that means except for someone’s trying to sell iPhones and Teslas and god knows what else on my IG account,” Momoa said in a video on his Instagram Story. “To all the friends and family who had weird messages come to them, obviously it’s not me and I apologize for any confusion… I think I’m back up on IG. We’ll see if this works. Anyways, sorry.”
