On Saturday, November 23, sports betting firm Betika kicked off a two-day competition as part of its wider initiative aimed at supporting upcoming sporting talent from across the country.

Dubbed the Meru Community Cup, the competition featured a number of teams competing for hefty cash prizes.

As far as local talent is concerned, betting firm Betika has been making strides to ensure the youth get some form of exposure though local tournaments. Betika.

The Meru Community Cup is only one of many scheduled such tournaments which will be held in the next couple of weeks countrywide courtesy of Betika.

The tournament featured both men and women’s football teams from the grassroots.

Overall winners in the men category will walk away with KSh 200,000 whereas women will pocket KSh 100,000.

Betika will be awarding first runners up in the men’s category KSh 75,000 and KSh 50,000 for women, another testimony to its commitment to build sporting talents among the grassroots teams.

Second runners up will not be left behind as they also have a chance to walk home with KSh 40,000.

Outstanding players also stand to win cash prizes for their brilliance.

The most disciplined player and best goalkeeper will take home KSh 15,000 each, whereas best fan cheering will be awarded KSh 10,000 for heroics off the pitch.
