It was a sad moment for Christiano Ronaldo in yesterday’s Portugal squad after failing to join Eusebio Da Silva as the country’s World Cup record goal scorer.
Ronaldo celebrated the first goal against Uruguay as if he netted it but it was later ruled by FIFA that it was Bruno Fernandez’s goal.
The goal was crucial in Ronaldo’s football history as he would have caught up with Eusebio da Silva Ferreira in the nine goals landmark for world cup.
“The goal has officially been ruled as scored by Bruno Fernandes,” Fifa announced on Twitter.
Meanwhile the Portugal Forward Bruno Fernandes has asked his team to stop concentrating on who scored what and stay focus in the tournament as they play South Korea on Friday in the last group matches.
“I don’t believe it matters who touched the ball at the time, I thought Cristiano touched the ball and I was passing to him let’s now stay focused on our next match,” Bruno said.
Portugal trounced Uruguay 2 goals to 0 putting them on top of group H.
