Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Noordin Haji has sought the withdrawal of the murder charge against Public Service and Gender Cabinet Secretary Aisha Jumwa.

Through State Counsel Vivian Kambaga, the DPP yesterday informed Justice Ann Ong’injo that he has decided to review the murder charge and have it withdrawn against Jumwa.

“This matter was coming up for mention. The DPP has decided to review the charge against Jumwa to enable her to proceed as a witness against Geoffrey Otieno Okutu,” Kambaga said during a virtual hearing. Of the case.

Justice On’ginjo however directed the DPP to formally file in writing the decision to withdraw the case.

“The DPP will also file an amended charge before the mention date,” On’ginjo said.

Jumwa is required to appear in court on December 21 when the DPP will present a letter to the court giving details for his decision to drop the charge.

She was charged alongside Geoffrey Otieno Okuto with the murder of Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) supporter Jola Ngumbao in 2019.

The two and their supporters allegedly stormed the home of Reuben Katana where an ODM strategy meeting was taking place which led to the killing of Ngumbao.
