Eden Hazard: Rio Ferdinand says Belgian could regret Real Madrid switch ▷ Kenya News

– Eden Hazard joined Real Madrid this summer in a deal estimated at £88 million

– He has however endured a torrid spell at the Spanish club

– And Ferdinand believes the Belgians move to Madrid was ill-timed

Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand contends Eden Hazard could live to regret sealing a dream summer switch to La Liga giants Real Madrid.

Hazard’s move to Madrid was worth an estimated £88 million, effectively ending his seven-year stay with Chelsea.

Injuries however saw the Belgian have a slow start at the Bernabeu, making his full debut for Madrid in the Spanish side’s 3-0 defeat against PSG in the Champions League on Wednesday night, September 18.

But his debut was one to forget as he paraded a below par performance, courting criticism and condemnation from fans.

And speaking after Madrid’s defeat, Ferdinand suggested Hazard may have joined Madrid at the wrong time.

“I’m fearful for him really that he has gone to Real Madrid at the wrong time,” the UK Metro quoted Ferdinand saying.

“This is an ageing side, they are not on the way up and they have not got much spark about them at the moment, and that is going to reflect on him, badly, in the long term,” he added.

Real Madrid failed to register a single shot on target in Paris, despite Zinedine Zidane parading Hazard, Gareth Bale and Karim Benzema in attack.

Meanwhile, Angel Di Maria’s double and Thomas Meunier’s stoppage time strike sealed a famous win for the Parisians.
