Media personality Bonnie Musambi is the latest ally of President William Ruto to land a state job in the Kenya Kwanza administration.
Musambi, in a statement on Tuesday, March 21, said the Head of State had appointed him as Director of Coordination in the Office of State House Spokesperson.
The journalist, who unsuccessfully contested for the Kitui Central parliamentary seat in the last general election, thanked President Ruto for the appointment and pledged to serve with dedication.
“Wow! Just wow! My immeasurable gratitude to God and you Mr. President, for my appointment as Director Coordination, Office of State House Spokesperson. I promise my full dedication and loyalty to you and all Kenyans,” Musambi said in a statement shared on Facebook.
He also thanked former United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party chairman Johnson Muthama for mentorship and support in his political ambitions.
“Special thanks to Commissioner Hon. Johnson Nduya Muthama for mentorship and unwavering support.
To my family, fans and political supporters, I will never let you down,” he added.
Musambi contested for the MP seat on Ruto’s UDA party ticket and played a central role in the former deputy president’s campaigns in the Ukambani region. He lost to Makali Mulu of the Wiper party.
The appointment is seen as a reward for Musambi’s role in Ruto’s election.
Musambi resigned from his job as a radio host and TV news anchor at the Kenya Broadcasting Corporation (KBC) in April 2021 after a 14-year stint to seek elective office.
The media personality will now serve alongside State House Spokesperson Hussein Mohamed to coordinate all communications in the Office of the President.
