Former Marakwet West MP William Kisang wins UDA party ticket

Former Marakwet West MP William Kisang has won the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party ticket during nominations for the Elgeyo Marakwet senate race. 

In the hotly contested race, Kisang floored 20 other aspirants to be declared winner by UDA county returning officer Nicodemus Bore. He garnered 28,136 votes.

Kisang garnered 28,126 votes ahead of his rivals Tim Kipchumba and Jonah Tanui who garnered 26,756 and 26,735 votes respectively.

The by-election was occasioned by the resignation of Cabinet Secretary for Roads Kipchumba Murkomen after being appointed by President William Ruto.

In Garissa, The race for Township parliamentary seat is taking shape, with clans going for their best candidates for the seat. This follows the resignation of Aden Duale to become Defence Cabinet Secretary. 

The Awliyahan community council of elders endorsed Nasir Dolal Mohamed as their sole candidate for the seat.

Nasir, who is commonly referred to as ‘Jofle’ by his supporters, is a seasoned politician who has been contesting since 2013 and always coming second to Duale who had held the seat since 2007. 

Other aspirants in the race are former Garissa gubernatorial candidate Dekow Barrow, former Fafi MP Abdikarim Osman, former woman representative Mulki Warsame and former assembly majority leader Mohamed Gabow.
