Four Kijabe Boys’ students arrested for allegedly setting dormitory aflame

Detectives from Lari Sub-County, Kiambu county, have arrested four Kijabe Boys High School students for allegedly setting fire to a school dormitory yesterday.

Lari Deputy County Commissioner Samuel Kariuki said a probe into the incident was underway and that the Ministry of Education will give a comprehensive report on the matter.

“I am very clear… Anything concerning the ministry, the Education Ministry will handle. We have not exhausted the investigation so I don’t have anything to say,” DCC Kariuki said.

Security agencies led by Lari Deputy County Commissioner and Head of Criminal Investigations Officer Eunice Maingi carried thorough search narrowing down the arrest to the four students.

Neighbours who responded to the distress call from the students and accused the administration of laxity after more than six attempts last year.

Last year, five students from the school were arrested over arson attack at the school.

They were charged that on August 30,2022 they set the school’s dormitory on fire during the lunch hour break destroying the school and students’ properties.
