Gov’t to deploy more armory and personnel to fight banditry in North Rift

The Government of Kenya will deploy more personel and armory to eradicate banditry in the North Rift region, Interior Cabinet Secretary Prof. Kithure says.

During a public baraza in Baringo County on Saturday, the CS affirmed certainty and severity of punishment for the sporadic banditry attacks.

Kindiki said the state will pull all the stops, including use of brute-force incapacitation, to make banditry a costly undertaking for perpetrators and their sponsors.

“We are going to move in and apply every human resource and weapon we have. We will get out all the armory; we will go by land; we will go by air, we will follow them to wherever they go, and we are going to smoke them out of the caves and the forests,” he said.

In his Saturday tour, Kindiki made stopovers in several perceived bandit hotspots to assess the security situation.

The Interior Ministry is keen on restoring calm in the region, to enable the resumption of learning activities.

“We have visited one of the schools where normalcy is gradually returning. I want to assure you that all the other schools affected will be reopened without exception, and they will never be closed
