A number of houses in Nairobi’s Waruku slums are currently experiencing floods following the heaving downpour experienced in Nairobi last night.
The residents say that the floods have damaged their property forcing them to go out.
The floods caused by the overflowing river damaged some walls of the houses causing the floods.
Kileleshwa MCA Robert Alai has confirmed the incident and stated that the Nairobi Disaster team is currently responding to the emergency.
“We have some floodings in Waruku slum, Kileleshwa. Nairobi City County disaster team is responding,” said Alai.
Heavy downpour on Wednesday night rocked Nairobi causing floods in several areas.
In Kariokor area, raw sewer water was flowing on the roads after the sewer lines burst out open.
A section of Waiyaki Way in Westlands area was also hit by floods due to poor drainage.
