Is there a Plot to Assassinate Devolution CS Eugene Wamalwa over His Support For Building Bridges Initiative?

Budalangi MP Raphael Wanjala has sensationally revealed threats against the life of Devolution Cabinet Secretary Eugene Wamalwa.

Wanjala claimed the CS has been receiving threats for supporting President Uhuru Kenyatta and Raila Odinga’s unity initiative from politicians opposed to the handshake.

The lawmaker has asked President Kenyatta to accord the CS enough security to protect him from individuals whom he claimed want to assassinate him.

“We are very worried about our son Eugene Wamalwa whose life is in danger because he has been threatened severally simply because he is supporting the handshake.”

The MP said the CS was right to support the handshake between Uhuru and ODM leader Raila Odinga because he has been appointed by the president and has no option but to back it.

“We have seen somebody on the television who has said he is ready to crash anybody who will stand between him and his political ambitions. We have seen political assassinations in Kenya and we will not allow it to happen to Eugene,” he said.

“Even those leaders who are going around in the Tangatanga movement must know this and come out to protects the life of Eugene Wamalwa,” Wanjala added.

Wanjala’s statement comes even as the CS alongside FORD Kenya party leader Moses Wetang’ula and Amani National Congress leader Musalia Mudavadi have been embroiled in a  series of held a meetings to discuss the way forward for the Luhya community.

The leaders later attended the 39th Maragoli festival where Eugene was made the chief guest. Last year, he was kicked out of the annual event for being part of the Jubilee campaign team.

This comes even as the CS has alienated himself from DP Ruto’s functions as insiders speak of a continuously deteriorating relationship.

“He dumped him long ago when he realized Ruto is against of Luhya unity. Ruto vehemently opposed Eugene re- appointment to cabinet and even wanted him deployed elsewhere as an ambassador. They are no longer working together,” the sources averred. These are however claims Kenya Report could not substantiate.
