A Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) impersonater was arrested by police officers in Kisii County after he attempted to apprehend a female cop.

The 27-year-old man who donned military wear bravely drove into Suneka Police Station, parked his Toyota Delta, and proceeded heroically to arrest the female cop for allegedly wearing a police uniform inappropriately.

Bedlam erupted as the duo confronted each other before the other police officers interceded to cool the situation.

“The intruder violently pulled the lady officer from her duty post which prompted the immediate intervention by her colleague and the duty officer,” a statement by the National Police Service read.

Deputy OCS, Cephas Ombija, intervened and asked the suspect to produce his identification documents but he failed.

This forced the officer to contact the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) who responded and arrested the imposter.

The police noted that the man will be arraigned in court to answer charges of impersonation. He will further be investigated to establish his links to criminal acts in the area.

“This case is not an isolated one, and in the past, we have handled incidences where criminals have unlawfully used the identity of our security gear to advance criminal activities.

“While we caution the public against imposters who are out to advance acts of fraud and other forms of criminality, we urge the public to seek for services from designated security installations and, to report to authorities any suspected imposter,’ the statement continued.

Earlier this year, three men were arrested near Kahawa Barracks after trying to defraud Mbabu John Ksh350,000 with a promise that they will help him enroll his son in the military.
