Residents of Kibera are experiencing a some peace amidst the demonstrations that are going in the country.
Police are the ones who usually kindle chaos
A section of residents who were probed by Ghetto Radio said that police officers are the ones who bring chaos among residents.
” I’m Amalemba Prosper and today we are experiencing peace though it is our demonstration day. Unlike the other time, police officers have been friendly to us so far they have not exploded a tear gas nor shot in the sky. Before they used to come here throw teargas at us, a move that compelled residents to battle back. If police officers could be behaving this way everyday then there would be no chaos here,” said Amalemba.
Business are going on well though no customers
Business people from the area told Ghetto that everything is cool though they are experiencing low customer turn out since some are under tension.
” Our people cannot believe that Kibera is peaceful, that is why majority are still under tension. We have opened the business but few people came to buy. But it is better unlike the other time when we have been experiencing chaos during demonstrations. I can confidently say that police are the one who usually cause the chaos,” said one mtumba trader who did not want to identify himself.
Residents calling on police to keep away their guns and teargas
Residents are now calling police to keep away their teargas cannisters and bullets when they are protecting peaceful demonstrators.
” We urge our men in uniform to be keeping their guns away and teargas. See now everything is calm and it will continue like that,” said Atema Maxwell.
On Monday property worth millions of shillings was destroyed in Kibera, lives were lost and many were left injured.
