Kiza Lounge mourns co-founder in style – Kenya Satellite News Network
By Wanja Waweru
Celebrities, businesspeople, and partygoers will gather for a tribute night to Kulture Lounge, previously Kiza Lounge, on Galana Plaza, to honor one of the club’s founders, Lukman Akanbi.
Lukman lost his struggle with polycystic illness on January 12, 2023. Ali Oumarou, the owner of Kulture, claimed that it was only proper for the venue to honor his life in a manner consistent with how he actually lived it.
In addition to being a wonderful husband, father, uncle, mentor, and business tycoon, Ali said, “He was a people’s guy, and we had to grant his close friends their wish.”
He was a skilled business instructor who interacted with prominent locals and played a significant part in the expansion of the Kiza franchise into Kenya, Dubai, and Toronto.
Lukman was remembered as a significant figure who helped launch the careers of numerous artists signed to the Kiza music label.
The music label that his daughter, the Canadian-born singer Tome, is signed to included content production, artist management, and distribution.
The brand primarily collaborates with youth empowerment initiatives that uphold African culture, fashion, music, and the arts.
Tome wrote. “This loss is not only my own or my direct family as he was family to so many. He is one of the greatest man I know.”
Sauti Sol’s Bien Aime joined numerous artists who consoled with his family’s fraternity saying, “May he rest well. He was such a dope dude.”
