KNCHR, ICJ WARN COUNTRY COULD PLUNGE INTO ANARCHY – GhettoRadio 89.5 FM

In summary

  • The commission further warns that the price of violence is too risky and of no reason.
  • The two civil rights groups have mapped out Mukuru Kwa Njenga slums, Mathare slums, Kibra slums, Spectre East Africa and the Northlands as areas that suffered destruction of property.

The Kenya National Commission on Human Rights and the International Commission of Jurists have warned that the country risks sinking back to the dark days if the protesters and demonstrators do not handle the demonstrations well.

KNCHR says that they have already witnessed several violations of human rights during the protests.

“It is important to note that countries that have slipped into the paths of disorder and lawlessness have ultimately degenerated into the path of anarchy,” said KNCHR boss.

The commission further warns that the price of violence is too risky and of no reason.

ICJ on the other hand has so far noted that the two demonstrations have glaring ramifications of human rights violations and the observation of the rule of law.

ICJ wants the police to be impartial while carrying out their duties.

“There was police inaction when police action was required, and there was police action when police inaction was required,” said ICJ.

The two civil rights groups have mapped out Mukuru Kwa Njenga slums, Mathare slums, Kibra slums, Spectre East Africa and the Northlands as areas that suffered destruction of property.

“We therefore call on the organizers of the demonstrators to ensure that the demonstrations are peaceful and that the demonstrators are unarmed.”

Azimio is planning to hold another demonstration on Thursday in the entire country.

Already Kisumu County Governor Anyang Nyong’o has called off demonstrations in Kisumu.
