KRA officials raid illegal liquor den in Nakuru : The Standard

At least two suspects were on Monday night arrested when a team from Kenya Revenue Authority and detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI) raided an illegal liquor den in Bahati in Nakuru County.

Area Deputy Police boss Francis Mwangi said they seized 114 cartons of liquor and arrested two suspects who were preparing to distribute it to outlets.
Preliminary investigations revealed the liquor comprising of stem vodka brand, is manufactured at respective joints in Nakuru Town East, Bahati and Molo Sub Counties.
“To stop supply of the illegal liquor to the market, we are following leads to raid its manufacturing zones in respective locations,” said Mr Mwangi.

“Our investigations reveal that the liquor is packaged in residential homes and transported to the market at night,” said Mwangi.
Impounded liquor was being offloaded from a lorry, at Phonex wines and spirits outlet at Ahero, following a tip off from members of the public.

Mwangi said driver of the vehicle and the owner of the pub were arrested and locked at Bahati Police station for interrogation.
