Kura constructs First Tarmacked Road in Wajir South Constituency – Weekly Citizen

Local residents and traders in Habaswein town Wajir South constituency were jubilated when Kenya Urban Roads Authority successfully completed the construction of the area`s first tarmacked road since Kenya`s independence.
The construction of the first tarmacked road in Habaswein town and a host of ongoing KURA projects in other towns in the region have paved the way for a robust economic activity in a constituency which is one of the largest in Kenya but had been practically neglected since its creation.

Stakeholders have praised the country`s road agency for fast-tracking infrastructural development in the area.
It has also emerged that politicians are in frantic attempts to take credit with the projects at least to boost them politically.
Wajir South constituency is one of the six constituencies in Wajir county and one of the largest in Kenya.
It`s also one of the most neglected, underdeveloped and unchanged constituency in the country since creation.
Data at the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission shows Wajir South land mass is about 21,424 sq km, hence larger than Central (11,449), Nairobi (696) and Western (7,400) regions combined.
The constituency has seven wards Burder, Dadajabula, Ibrahim ure, Diif, Lagbogol South, Habaswein and Banane ward.
