Under fire Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba paid a visit to Mecca during the holy month of Ramadan where muslims the world over, focus on spiritual nourishment fasting from dawn to dusk.

Pogba sparked up heavy criticisms from Red Devils fans after a rough season that saw United finish in sixth place and fail to qualify for the Champions League.

According to Mirror (UK), the France international is making his first appearance at the holy ground in the two Premier League seasons.

The 26-year-old shared a picture of himself on the ground with the caption: “Never forget the important things in life.”

He was joined by Chelsea defender Kourt Zouma, who spent last season on loan at fellow Premier League side Everton.

This will not be the first time Pogba would be visiting Mecca as he had previously already gone for Hajj — a journey every Muslim financially and physically capable, is expected to make in their lifetime.

The Red Devils star used the end of the season break to seek God’s grace, rather than jet out to the usual footballer hotspots like Las Vegas and Ibiza.

Pogba is also expected to make the France squad for their Euro 2020 qualifiers next month before making a decision on his United future.

Meanwhile, his wages could hamper his move away from Old Trafford as he is looking for a fee around £13m-a-year.

The Frenchman shone under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer during his interim tenure but his form dropped off at the end of the campaign, along with his teammates.

He clashed with supporters during the lap of honour after the final day defeat to Cardiff , in what could be his final appearance for United.

Meanwhile, Pogba’s former Juventus teammate Claudio Marchisio has urged him to return to Turin.

Looking at Juventus’ team, I think it lacks a player that can help the team offensively and Pogba would be the ideal player for that,” Marchisio told Tuttosport.

I never understood his decision to return to Manchester; he had already been there.”

The 2018 World Cup winner has been linked with a move away from Old Trafford to Real Madrid this summer, while Juventus and Barcelona are also said to be interested in the player.
