A section of men have welcomed the Supreme Court’s decision on the division of property.
Bahati Musoma Chairman of Chama cha Maendeleo Ya Wanaume Vihiga County told Ghetto radio that men have for a long time suffered when it comes to property division during and after divorce.
” The decision that was made by the supreme court is good and it will favour men. Men have been harassed in the past years by ladies. Sometimes ladies could poach a man who is well off they get married after a year they ask for divorce then they seal it with division of property, but now we are happy because the court has indicated us as men. We are free,” Said Musoma.
According to Musoma, everyone in marriage will have to work hard knowing that incase of a divorce you wil leave with what you produce.
“This decision will make everyone to work hard in marriage knowing the time of divorce everyone will have to leave with what he acquired. I have been always telling ladies to invest not only spending on the outfits,” he added.
The chairman also wants married people to search for alternative ways not settle for divorce as their final solution.
” Marriage is a good thing. It was blessed by God let married people stay away from divorce. That one should be the final decision we should not encourage divorce in our culture,” he concluded.
On Friday 27 the highest court on the land ruled that the 50:50 formula of sharing property in the event of dissolution of marriage is not absolutely applicable instead each party is entitled to their fair share of matrimonial property.
