Mwamba RFC announce three-year shirt deal with Tessen Sports

Mwamba Rugby Club have announced a new three-year shirt sponsorship deal with Tessen Sports, the official Samurai Rugby apparel supplier.

While maintaining their signature black tops with faded grey hoops, the shorts and the playing stockings will be solid black.

The Kulabu, as they are fondly known in rugby circles, will debut their new home kit on Saturday as they play Kenya cup defending champions Kabras RFC at the Impala club grounds while the ladies kits will be launched at a later date.

Club chairman Jason Braganza said that; “I am very happy to reconnect with Tessen Sportswear and Samurai Rugby on Mwamba’s new playing kit. Our partnership dates back many years as a club and even further through the connection with Mwamba players and staff.

“This new partnership is exciting, the new kit design deeply rooted in the Club’s history of being the first indigenous rugby club in Kenya. We look forward to a strong partnership with Tessen and Samurai.”

Terry Sands, who is also the founder of Tessen Sports, also expressed his gratitude in working with Mwamba RFC.

“I am extremely pleased and proud to have rekindled firstly our relationship and secondly our partnership with one of Kenya’s top independent rugby clubs. The grass was maybe not greener for Mwamba during their time away but normal service has resumed.”

The club noted that they would partner with Tessen Sports for production of club merchandise that will be available to the Kulabu faithful in a date to be announced.

The new off field developments spell a change of fortunes for one of Kenya’s oldest rugby clubs as they gun to rekindle their dominance in the local rugby circuit.

They currently lie seventh in the Kenya Cup standings after seven rounds and will hope to be in contention for the play-off slots at the end of the season, after they narrowly missed out in the 2021/2022 season after finishing fifth on the log.
