A Nigerian man was arrested for allegedly hacking into the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) system to award himself permanent citizenship.
The man named Abaeze Atuche is reported to have hacked into USCIS’s website and granting US citizenship to himself, his family members and friends, according to ihlayanews.com. About 30 people reportedly benefitted from Atuche’s cyber-attack on the US government website.
Atuche, 29, allegedly entered the US using a fake American passport in 2013 and never left. By 2016, he had made his family and many of his Nigerian friends permanent US citizens, ihlayanews.com added.
The US government is presently in the process of deporting all people who got their citizenship as a result of Atuche’s criminal act.
