As part of strict new measures to stop the spread of coronavirus COVID-19, many governments have urged their citizens to stop all “non-essential” travel if possible.

This means thousands of people up and down the country are now working from home for the foreseeable future.

It’s a huge change for many of us and is going to take some getting used to, but people have taken to social media to share tips and hacks to make it work.

Many have suggested keeping routine, changing out of your PJs and taking regular screen breaks, others have been sharing photos of their rather creative desk set ups.

While most people are just working from the sofa or sitting at the dining room table, limited space has forced others to think outside the box.

Jules Forrest was the first person to start the trend, posting a photo to her Twitter of her make-shift desk which quickly went viral.

She said: “Can we do a WFH workspace setup thread, unglamorous edition?

“My partner and I are both working from our studio apartment. My setup is a chair in front of the front door and my desk is our clothes hamper.”

The post received over 12,000 likes and nearly 2,000 comments from other workers sharing their set-ups.

One person shared a picture of her laptop and notebook on top of her ironing board, with the caption: “I’m lucky enough to have a height-adjustable workstation at home…”

With which one lady then commented: “I’ve been working from home full time for 5 years – why have I never ever thought of this”.

A man then shared a picture of his laptop balanced on top of his recycling bin outside in his garden – only advisable if the weather is nice.

A third savvy worker adapted her treadmill with a plank of wood: “My fancy treadmill desk consisting of a plank of wood just wide enough.  Walked 2 1/2 miles during meetings today!”

But one person didn’t quite understand, saying: “Not judging here, but I find it funny that no one has… a desk”.
