A village in Tana River County has been left in shocks after reports allegedly accusing a man of defiling a four-year-old girl who later died in hospital emerged.
The girl was believed to have been defiled by a 43-year-old man in the county last Thursday. She died while undergoing treatment on Sunday at Hola District Hospital.
The hospital has said the report on what killed the girl is not yet out but will be released in due course after the family approves or the court orders.
The man suspected to have committed the ordeal has been arrested as police continue with investigations.
Hola OCPD Mr. Sylvester Githongo confirmed that he received reports on the defilement and arrested the suspect. He is, however, carrying out more investigations to determine if the man’s actions could have led to the death of the girl.
Rape cases in Tana River have been on the rise with at least 10 cases reported for the past one month.
