McDonald Mariga continues with the fight to vie in the November 7 Kibra by-election and has appealed against Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission’s (IEBC) decision to see him out of the race.

The football star Maringa on Wednesday 11 September 2019 moved to the IEBC Disputes Resolution Tribunal to find out and contest the move by the body to bar him from participating in the forthcoming Kibra by-election.

Mariga wants the tribunal to throw away the decision by Kibra Constituency Returning Officer Beatrice Muli who declared that he is not a registered voter since his name was not found in the IEBC register bot manually and electronic and therefore should step out of the race.

Mariga confirmed “I registered as a voter on August 26, 2019, at Kariakor Social Hall polling station in Starehe Constituency and was issued with acknowledgment slip bearing Electors No 014521190826205-9. The law allows continues voter registration and the voter registers are updated continuously.”

Though the law firm of Majimbo AG & Co advocates, Mariga filed the complaint at IEBC offices insisting that he is a registered voter.
