The Qatar 2022 Fifa World Cup has brought us a perfect moment in enjoying some great father figure elements from African footballing families of Legendary Liberian soccer star and President George Weah, and Ghana’s Pele.

Science has proven through hybrid vigor that an offspring traits become more enhanced with the aid of genetic contributions from it’s parents. And with this, we get to see why the apple does not fall far from the tree in relation to Weah’s and Pele’s genetic contributions to their offsprings current display at the world’s most prestigious tournament-world cup.

George Weah Father To Timothy Weah.

George Weah is a retired African Ballon D’or Winner and President of Liberia, Father to US rising Star Timothy Weah . During his hey days, the senior Weah featured for PSG and AC Milan. His career had been moulded at Lille – Ligue 1.

George Weah first met his jamaican wife Clar Weah while she was working at a bank in the Us. Their son Timothy Weah was born in New York and turns out for the American national football team unlike his father’s home team.

Though Timothy Weah has a long way to go in his footballing career, he’s already made history by playing at the world cup and netting a goal unlike his dad who never played at a world cup tournament despite his massive success.

The US national team is ranked 16th on World’s Fifa rankings, they drew 1:1 with Wales in their 2022 Qatar opener. They later held England who are ranked 2nd to a barren draw and are looking forward to having a better outcome in their next feature against Iran.

George Weah has been present in Qatar and is offering his son moral support,it’s like his son is continuing from where he left.

Timothy Weah’s goal also caught the eye of Brazilian Pele, he was part of the Brazilian team that won three world cup championships in 1958,1962 and 1970.

Pele celebrated Timothy’s goal and had a sweet message to the younger Weah to keep on keeping on.

In a show of ‘giving respect to elders’, The Us sensation also gave flowers to the Brazilian star maintaining that he doesn’t take him for granted.

“Thank you Papa Pele💥it is such a blessing and an honor to receive such an inspiring message from The King himself ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️Thank you for everything you’ve done for the world and for us black men ✨Grandes Abracos🦋” Replied Timothy.

Abedi Pele Father to Andre Ayew, Ibrahim Ayew and Jordan Ayew.

Abedi Pele is regarded as one of the first African players to make a huge impact at the European club level.

He featured prominently for Ghana in 73 appearances. His record was eclipsed by Asamoah Gyan. He was the top goal poacher with 33 goals for the black stars. He was part of the victorious team in the 1982 African cup of Nations. He never showcased at the Fifa World Cup throughout his career but seems to be doing it anyway through his footballing family.

At the Qatar 2022 Fifa World Cup, Abedi Pele has his two sons Andre Ayew and Jordan Ayew turning up for the the Ghana national team-Black Stars.

Andre Ayew is the second born son to Abedi Pele, his two brothers Ibrahim and Jordan have also played for the black stars.

However, at the Qatar 2022 Fifa World Cup it’s Andre Ayew and his brother Jordan who have been going on with the ‘family business’.

Andre canceled Christiano Ronaldo’s goal for Portugal that was awarded through a penalty in their 2:3 loss to the European giants who are ranked at 9th position by Fifa. Ghana lies in the 61 position.

Despite putting up a spirited fight, Ghana’s captain Andrew Ayew got a backlash from a section of their fans on social media who pointed out his brother Jordan’s two costly errors that resulted in his team’s 3:2 loss opener to Portugal.

Jordan who turns up for English side Crystal Palace as a forward lost his maker. Moving forward the Black Stars fans have called for his exclusion.

Abedi Pele’s ‘soccer genes’ flows through his son’s lives. His wise counsel also came in handy, he heavily contributed to Andre Ayew’s switch to Qatari’s side Al Sadd Sc.

His father Abedi Pele also had a stint at the Qatari club in the 1982/83 season.

“There is history already between Al Sadd and my dad. That’s his first club outside Ghana. That’s where he got his big injury and Al Sadd took care of him, conducted surgery for him and did everything that was supposed to be done” Revealed Andre Ayew in a past interview.

Ghana are part of Africa’s hope at the Qatar 2022 Fifa World Cup. Much is needed of them in their coming encounters with South Korea and Uruguay respectively.

Another rising world player with soccer lineage who would have been fascinating to watch at the Qatar world cup is Erling Haaland, he turns up for the Norway national team and English side Manchester city.

The pacy forward has shown great strides in following his father’s footsteps and equaling his exploits. The older Haaland Alf-Inge featured for Nottingham Forest in Norway and English side’s Leeds United and Manchester city as a defender . He’s credited for scoring goals against Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester United among other teams.

The younger Haaland netted 19 goals in his first 12 games for Manchester city which is a no mean feat. His father’s guidance and ‘great soccer genes’ seems to be propelling him to greatness.

Though Norway failed to feature the Qatar 2022 Fifa World Cup we hope to experience much more from Erling Haaland in future competitions.

It’s not a must for a player to have a football lineage to excel in the sport. We’ve had great players like Messi and Christiano Ronaldo whose father’s were not football Star’s.

Nonetheless, a history in football becomes an integral part of a players development and a source of inspiration. Others also view it as ‘enormous pressure’ on the younger players life in keeping up with their father’s legacy hence mental instability. What’s your take, drop a comment.
