The Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC) is established under the Tourism Act, No. 28 of 2011 (the Act). KICC’s mandate is to promote business of meetings, conferences and exhibitions. This entails:-
- Organizing and hosting meetings and providing incentives for conferences and exhibitions at the Convention Centre;
- Developing and implementing the national meetings, incentives for conferences and exhibitions strategy, in collaboration with the Tourism Board upon consultation with the relevant stakeholders;
- Marketing the Convention Centre, in collaboration with the Tourism Board; and
- Perform any other functions that are ancillary to the object and purpose for which the Convention Centre is established.
KICC is in the process of recruiting suitable persons and invites applications for the following posts:-
PRINCIPAL DIGITAL COMMUNICATION OFFICER (WEB DEVELOPMENT AND MANAGEMENT), JOB GRADE 4 REF: KICC/PDCO-WD/2020
The Principal Digital Communication Officer, Web Development and Management reports to Digital Communications Manager and manages content creation for the Corporation’s website ensuring content on the website stays up to date and relevant.
Responsibilities
- Overseeing all content creation activities of the organizations website.
- Work closely with the marketing team to devise a web content strategy that aligns with the Corporation’s wider goals.
- Creation of content marketing calendar to ensure regular content on the website throughout the year.
- Writing entertaining and informative search engine optimized copy.
- Targeting key words set by the online manager and basing articles around them.
- Keeping up to date with industry best practice and monitoring content activities of competitor websites.
- Assisting the online manager with ad-hoc copy-writing.
- Re-purposing content for different mediums including social media and video.
- Creation of entertaining and informative video content for the website.
- Working alongside the social media manager to create content for the different social media channels.
- Updating all sections of the website including homepage and all other categories.
- Training the eCommerce team on how to use the website content management system.
Qualifications
For appointment to this grade, an officer must:
- Have a Bachelor’s degree in any of the following: – Communications or Journalism or its equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
- Have a Master’s degree from a recognized institution.
- Have a minimum period of six (6) years relevant work experience of three(3) should have been at a level of senior officer.
- Be a registered member of a relevant professional body.
- Be highly articulate with an excellent command of written English.
- Be creative minded with an ability to conceive interesting ideas for new content.
- Have a certificate in management course lasting not less than four (4) years from a recognized institution.
- Be proficient in computer applications.
- Fulfill the requirements of Chapter Six of the constitution.

TERMS OF OFFER
The successful candidate’s appointment will be as follows:-
- Job Grade KICC 3 shall be appointed on a contract of five (5) years renewable subject to performance.
- Job Grade KICC 4, Job Grade KICC 5, Job Grade KICC 6 and Job Grade KICC 7 shall be appointed on permanent and pensionable terms
