Fred Matiang’i Opens Jubilee Party Office in Kilifi Ahead of 2027 Election

Fred Matiang’i, leader of the Jubilee Party, inaugurated a new party office in Kilifi North on Tuesday, October 6, 2026, as part of a drive to boost the party’s grassroots network before the 2027 General Election.

The ceremony was held at Kwa Charo Wamae, where he met with party delegates and local leaders, then visited a nearby market to speak with traders and residents before addressing a gathering of Kilifi residents during a brief stopover.

In a statement shared on his official X account, Matiang’i said the engagements were “part of Jubilee’s efforts to build its structures from the grassroots and develop leadership that reflects the aspirations of Kenyans.” He added that the party remains “committed to strengthening our party from the grassroots, listening to the people and building a leadership that reflects their hopes and aspirations.”

The Kilifi event followed a meeting on Monday, October 5, 2026, at Bahari Beach Resort in Nyali, where he convened Jubilee aspirants from across Mombasa County, who reaffirmed their commitment to unity, mutual trust and an inclusive party ahead of the election.

That Nyali gathering formed part of a five-day Coast tour that has placed grassroots mobilisation at the centre of his regional activities, and on the same day he met KADU Asili leaders, including party head Mudzo Nzili, to discuss cooperation for the upcoming poll. He thanked Nzili’s team for their confidence in his presidential candidature and said the broader objective is to build a broad, united and purposeful movement.

On September 22, 2026, former President Uhuru Kenyatta announced that Matiang’i would assume the Jubilee Party leadership as the party prepares for its National Delegates Convention, and the party subsequently endorsed him as its presidential candidate for the 2027 election.

The opening of the Kilifi office therefore reflects a wider strategy to expand Jubilee’s presence beyond Nairobi, forge alliances with other parties and solidify a grassroots base as political parties reorganise ahead of the 2027 polls.
