Siaya Senator James Orengo has asked the National Assembly to summon Deputy President William Ruto to shed light over his links with Turkish national Harun Aydin.

Speaking during the burial of Jaduong Nyakwamba, the father of Homabay Senator Moses Kajwanga on Saturday, August 14, Orengo claimed Interior CS Dr Fred Matiang’i has sufficient evidence against the DP.

“We must summon Ruto before the parliamentary committee to speak on this matter and give us an answer if he is being truthful.

“How can you have business in Uganda, instead of leaving Turkey and going to Uganda directly, you pass through Nairobi? They were trying to create a network for money laundering,” Orengo said.

On August 2, the DP was barred from travelling to Uganda with Harun who was deported from Kenya.

The Turkish national was arrested on August 9 after jetting into Kenya from Uganda where he spent five days.

After the deportation of the Turk, Matiang’i told a parliamentary committee sitting in Mombasa that Harun would have been charged with money laundering and terrorism related crimes.

“His passport shows he has left the country twice without a stamp of arrival, this means he was sneaked into the country, and this is alarming enough to kick him out. Issuance of a work permit doesn’t guarantee a permanent stay in the country.

“Information filled on the work permit was incorrect and fraudulent, he is not an investor as purported. There’s no investment anywhere. He was a criminal, a strange character masquerading as an investor,” Matiang’i said.
