Ruto Announces KSh1.2 Billion University for Emurua Dikirr

President William Ruto has announced a KSh1.2 billion allocation towards the construction of a new university in Emurua Dikirr, Narok County.

The President made the announcement on Wednesday, August 26, while addressing residents during his development tour of the area.

According to Ruto, the proposed university will be established in honour of the late Emurua Dikirr Member of Parliament Johana Ng'eno.

The announcement followed calls from residents for the establishment of a university in the constituency.

Ruto said the government had allocated the funds for the project and linked the institution to the legacy of the late legislator.

New road project also announced

The President also announced plans for the construction of a new Class B road linking Emurua Dikirr to the Rironi-Mau Summit corridor.

Construction of the road is expected to begin in October, according to the President.

The two announcements form part of a wider development programme in the constituency, with residents seeking improved access to education, roads and other public services.

The proposed university could increase access to higher education for students in Emurua Dikirr and surrounding parts of Narok County.

However, details on the institution's academic programmes, governance structure, exact site and expected completion date are yet to be fully outlined.

The university announcement also carries political significance because it comes in the constituency previously represented by Ng'eno, whose death has continued to feature prominently in local political discussions.

For residents, the focus will now shift to the implementation of the promised projects and the timelines attached to them.
