KenGen Embarks on Drilling projects in Ethiopia
Recently KenGen announced that it is all systems go for its energy generation exploits in Ethiopia. KenGen exploits in Ethiopia is a big milestone for the company as it seeks to widen its footprints across the East African region. CEO Rebecca Miano said that the transportation of rig equipment to Ethiopia had already taken place in December. She announced that the company was looking forward to embark on the energy generation process . Moreover, she asserted that the venture into Ethiopia is pursuant to KenGen winning tenders to drill geothermal wells in the East African country. "We have unpacked the rig, we have rigged up and now we are working towards pudding the first well and will be able to start the drilling of the first well. It is an opportunity to expand in the region which is in line with our strategy of diversification but more importantly being able to add value to the region," the CEO said. In late January 2020, KenGen rig up team announced that it had already assembled the rig and pending ground breaking , the rig was ready to lift up the mast.

Tulu Moye Geothermal Operations PLC in their official twitter account announced that geothermal energy would soon become the dominating resource for electricity generation. The company further called on Energy leaders and development partners to collaborate in areas of energy security and energy equity so as to build sustainable energy systems.
