DAILY POST: DPP vows to take action against Tuk Tuk driver caught on camera beating two Traffic Police Officers (VIDEO)

Monday,
November 26, 2018-
The Principal
Prosecution Counsel in the office of the
Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), Duncan Ondimu, has castigated a Tuk
Tuk driver caught on camera beating two traffic police officers.

The viral video has drawn out mixed reactions among Kenyans with some defending
the driver claiming the traffic officers are notorious with asking for bribes.
The officers were also seen hurling stones at the fleeing driver.
However, according to Ondimu, the Tuk Tuk driver crossed the red line and
should be apprehended for assaulting security officers.
Taking to twitter, the prosecutor wrote:
“A Police Officer carries the
Government symbol, Coat of Arms. To assault and beat a police officer is such a
terrible criminal act that must be dealt with firmly. I hope the Tuk Tuk fellow
is apprehended!
He
added: “
We all have
complaints about police malpractices that’s why we have set up institutions to
deal with the issues.
“Buy engaging in affray or
attacking a police officer, assaulting ain’t the way forward. Framers of the
Constitution did not envisage such conduct
,”
The incident is reported to have happened in Nakuru.
