The high court in Mombasa has thrown out a case that was challenging the acquisition of two new ferries to serve at the Likoni channel.
The petition filed by Bornriz Surveyors Marine Insurance was struck out by High Court judge Erick Ogola in Mombasa for lacking merit.
Bornriz, which had been contracted by Kenya Ferry Services to do consultancy work, wanted the court to stop the building of two new ferries questioning safety issues.
The move is a reprieve for thousands of ferry users who have been waiting for the new ferry, MV Safari, for close to two years.
