SACCO is a startup SACCO established in July 2017 for members of GROOTS Kenya.
GROOTS Kenya is a national movement of grassroots women across Kenya. Our
mission is to facilitate effective engagement of grassroots women in
development spaces.
in the implementation of the Markets & Trade Program targeting small-scale
women farmers largely in the Horticulture value chain in Nyandarua (Potato),
Nakuru (Horticulture & Dairy), Kitui (Poultry & Horticulture) and
Muranga (Banana) Counties.
Lead the mapping and organizing of
small-scale farmers into groups
Enhance farmers capacities and
organization to produce for the market
Support in conducting of baselines
surveys and rapid value chain analysis
Develop & lead the implementation
of such innovations that accelerate rural women small-scale farmers’ engagement
higher up the value chain
Support farmer groups to map
strategic agri-markets and build sustainable market linkages
Develop and mainstream into the
program innovations to address traditional challenges that hinder women
engagement in agribusiness e.g- care work burden, gender-based violence, lack of
land control, lack of capital e.t.c
Support the women farmers to map
stakeholders ‘conduct community-led advocacy to compliment the program
investments
Sustain strategic partnerships with
policymakers and stakeholders mapped under the program
Support mapped farmers to mobilize
own financial resources, save and borrow to support their value chain
activities
Build a participatory monitoring
system for the targeted individual farmers and farmer groups.
Build a men for women movement to
enhance the quality of program outcomes at individual and group level
Any other role assigned by the
Executive Director
Bachelors’ degree in agribusiness or
agricultural related studies
A deep understanding of the
horticulture value chain and in particular for crops such as potatoes, banana,
and kales
At least over 3 years of working
experience in the sector
Experience working with small-scale
farmers/entrepreneurs
designing and implementing the monitoring and evaluation (M&E) activities
of projects and assisting the Project Manager in preparing quarterly and annual
reports on project progress. The post holder will monitor project activities on
a regular basis, developing and maintaining the Management Information System
of the project. The Monitoring & Evaluation Officer will also be
responsible for the research, collection and analysis of different data in
relation to project and programme activities.
Be responsible for setting up and
maintaining a database to capture all the project’s M&E activities, and
results, and enhancing the information management of M&E related documents
Lead and coordinate the development
of M&E systems and processes for data collection, collation and management,
and programme and projects reporting and external reporting requirements
Provide technical support and back-up
to external consultants conducting surveys and impact measurements
Collection of outcome-level data
(knowledge/behavior changes, awareness/satisfaction levels) at separate times
from project implementation
Provide technical advice on M&E,
and lead in the analysis of projects’ baseline, evaluations, and
impact-assessment data, using qualitative and quantitative methods
Be responsible for managing and
regularly updating all relevant M&E documents, including quarterly
reporting formats
Be responsible for working with
Project Manager to ensure that M&E is well integrated at the planning
stages of projects and throughout the projects to ensure regular monitoring of
programme impact
Provide support and training to
staff, interns, community facilitators, and partners to increase the use of
M&E tools and approaches
Ensure the integrity and quality of data in support of citizen-generated data
and other metrics and surveys
Engage with the Kenya National
Bureaus of Statistics and other data authorities to advance GROOTS Kenya
mandate.
Bachelor’s degree in social sciences
or development studies; Specialization in Research, monitoring & Evaluation
is highly preferred
Excellent communication and writing
skills, including experience of working effectively across cultures and with
diverse audiences
A team player with excellent
organizational skills
A self-starter with the initiative
and confidence to lead in their designated field – can work independently and
prioritize own workload
Impeccable analytical and
interrogatory skills
Ability to work under pressure yet
deliver multiple tasks on time with attention to detail and accuracy
Knowledge and understanding of
project monitoring, evaluation, and M&E trends and discourse
A minimum of 2-3 years of
professional experience in developing and implementing M&E systems in NGOs
or other development sector players
Understanding research and evaluation
methodologies (qualitative and quantitative)
Skilled in designing and managing
data-gathering exercises effectively from field operations
Strong computer skills, including
statistical packages (SPSS), and the ability to interpret data
Experience working in gender, and
social inclusion or accountability projects or programmes
