It was not business as usual at the lakeside Kisumu International Airport (KIA) when a plane destined for Nairobi failed to start after Kenya Airways (KQ) passengers who had booked the flight took their seats and were ready for take-off.

The pilot could not get the plane off the ground despite numerous attempts that reportedly lasted for hours, prompting the passengers to run out of patience and react.

TUKO.co.ke on Sunday, April 14, learnt the KQ plane failed to take off because of engine failure and as a result inconvenienced tens of travellers who were already on board.

A report by Nairobi News indicated the delay, allegedly caused by some technical problem on one of the engines, triggered chaos at the usually busy airport as passengers protested, demanding to be relocated to a another flight.

The travellers could be heard shouting to the KQ and airport staff asking to be given another plane or their money back.

They were eventually transferred to another plane, but it was not what they had initially paid for.

Since they were already running late, the Nairobi-bound passengers were forced to contend with a low cost Jumbo jet.
