A contractor working on a building to house offices of the Nyandarua County Government risks losing the tender for delaying the works. Tuesday, Governor Francis Kimemia warned that the process of kicking out the contractor has started for allegedly failing to comply with laid down rules. He blamed the contractor for taking too long to finish the work which started in November 2016. “We have met as a team and decided that the work must be through by the end of the year failure to which the tender will be cancelled. We cannot have the work taking years and yet it was supposed to be complete by last year,” he noted.

He regretted that his officers were having a hard time in discharging their duties at the current offices due to lack of space. “We have even been forced to hire offices since there is not enough space. The contractor must either comply or let someone else do the work,” said Kimemia. The work, he said, would cost Sh400 million. The move was a result of public outcry from members of staff who have since expressed concern over the matter. The Governor at the same time put on notice other contractors taking too long to finish work or doing shoddy jobs.

"This will not be tolerated in Nyandarua anymore. Any contractor awarded tenders in Nyandarua must complete their work on time. We want residents to get value for their money,”Kimemia said.
