Fresh from successfully upgrading almost its entire smartphone lineup to Android Pie (only the Nokia 2 ruins this), HMD Global is on to the next one: Android 10.

According to an update roadmap shared by the company’s Chief Product Officer, Juho Sarvikas, on Twitter, the very first Nokia smartphones to receive Android 10 will be doing so in the next quarter.

This is unsurprising given that one of the company’s devices, the Nokia 8.1, has been part of the public beta testing programme run by Google since it released the third developer preview of Android 10.

Joining the Nokia 8.1 in Q4 when Android 10 goes official will be the flagship Nokia 9 PureView and the Nokia 7.1.

Before the end of the year, the trio will be joined by last year’s Android Pie pioneer Nokia 7 Plus, the Nokia 6.1 and Nokia 6.1 Plus.

As can be seen in the graphic below, the rest of the Nokia smartphones released in 2018 and 2019 will be receiving their Android 10 upgrades in the first and second quarters of the new year. Those devices are all (except the Nokia 1, Nokia 1 Plus and Nokia 2.1, which run on Go editions of Android) part of the Android One programme and are, as such, guaranteed software upgrades.

The first generation of Android-powered Nokia smartphones, released in 2017, has since run through its major upgrade support period. HMD Global has however committed to continue providing crucial security updates for those devices through to Q4 2020.
