The National Youth Service has embarked on a cleanup exercise of all major streets and roads within Nairobi Central Business District in a move aimed at ensuring cleanness in the city.
The program spearheaded by the newly launched Nairobi Metropolitan Services has also seen hundreds of youths from Nairobi employed to help in the exercise that targets to clear mounds of garbage in sections of the city.
In a move to enhance cleanness within the city and its environs especially during the current coronavirus outbreak, this group of youths has been offering cleaning services for the past one week.
Under close supervision by the NYS, the group has managed to clean major streets and roads in the capital city including Parliament Road, Avenue Road, City Hall Highway up to Railways Bus Park.

By subdividing themselves into five groups of ten youths each, they target to finish garbage collection by Friday this week in areas like Accra Road, River Road, Kumasi and OTC that are known to have heaps of trash.
With a number of unemployed youth in Nairobi struggling to make ends meet, the group hopes the program spearheaded by the newly launched Nairobi Metropolitan Services will give them a lifeline of hope.
The overall objective according to the National Youth Service is to ensure the city is cleaned without causing a lot of inconvenience to Nairobians.
