Saudi Prince Found Dead in Hotel Bathroom as Inquest Rules Death Was Misadventure

A UK inquest has concluded that Saudi Prince Abdullah bin Fahad bin Abdullah bin Abdulaziz bin Jalawi Al Saud died after suffering cardiac arrest caused by a combination of alcohol and drugs while staying at a luxury hotel in London. The findings were released on 24 July 2026, months after the prince was found unresponsive in his hotel room.

The 29-year-old royal was discovered on the bathroom floor of his room at the London Marriott Hotel Kensington on 25 November 2025 after hotel staff entered the room when he failed to respond. Emergency responders were called to the scene but were unable to revive him, and he was pronounced dead.

During the inquest, toxicology evidence showed the prince had consumed a mixture of alcohol, gamma-hydroxybutyrate (GHB) and several prescription anti-anxiety medications. Assistant Coroner Jean Harkin ruled that the death was misadventure, concluding there was no evidence of suicide or third-party involvement. CCTV footage reviewed during the investigation showed the prince was alone before his death.

The court also heard that Prince Abdullah had previously undergone treatment for substance misuse at rehabilitation facilities in the United Kingdom. Medical professionals who treated him had not identified him as being at risk of self-harm before his discharge.

Following the inquest, condolences were extended to the Saudi royal family. The case has drawn international attention due to the prince's royal status and the circumstances surrounding his death, while the coroner's findings brought the investigation to a close.
