Court on Wednesday, April 17, suspended President Uhuru Kenyatta's housing fund levy a day after the government announced deduction of the controversial levy from salaries will commence in May 2019.
This comes after the Consumers Federation of Kenya (Cofek) moved to court to stop implementation of the housing levy which it termed unconstitutional.
In her ruling, Lady Justice Maureen Onyango of the Employment and Labour Relations Court granted Cofek application conservatory orders staying the notice for implementation of the Housing Fund Levy until May 20, 2019, when the matter would be heard.
