Deputy President William Ruto has promised to put policies in place that will reduce the economic burden on Kenyans if elected President in the August 2022 General elections.

Ruto blamed the high cost of living and unemployment on what he described as misplaced priorities by ‘greedy’ persons in the Government.

The Deputy President said Kenya Kwanza will address the high cost of living by investing in agriculture to ensure we produce enough food and hence lower food prices.

He promised to invest Ksh.100 billion in labour-intensive programmes that will create additional jobs for our youth.

“This year, we have the opportunity to form a government that will think about creating jobs for youth, a government that understands that Kenyans are hit with the high cost of living.” He said

Ruto further noted that failure to fully implement the Big Four agenda denied jobs to millions of Kenyans.

“They decided the priority of the Government will be to amend the Constitution. This year the priority is the creation of jobs.” He added

ANC’s Musalia Mudavadi said the Kenya Kwanza Alliance had come together to form a people-centered government that will address challenges facing ordinary citizens.

“We do not want to have a puppet President who will be controlled. We want a leader who will represent the interests of the people.” He said:

Wetang’ula said Azimio la Umoja coalition flag bearer Raila Odinga was not the right person to take up the country’s leadership after President Uhuru Kenyatta accusing him of not having a plan to create jobs and address the high cost of living.

The Ford Kenya party leader said Mr. Odinga was keen on maintaining the status quo instead of bringing change.

At the same time, the Kenya Kwanza Alliance leaders asked Odinga to commit to Kenyans that he will not organize protests leading to violence if he loses the elections.

“We want Mr. Raila to promise that if he loses the election he will accept the results. That you will not organize protests, swear yourself in, or demand a handshake.” Mathira MP Rigathi Gachagua said

On his part, Tharaka Nithi Senator Kindiki Kithure asked Raila not to give ultimatums for him to accept election results.

“Do not give conditions, you must accept election results unconditionally. When Dr. Ruto defeats you, do not organize protests.” He said
