Sunday, November 25, 2018-At least 29 people died after a cruise boat carrying Β revelers capsized on Lake Victoria on Saturday.The overloaded boat capsized due to bad weather and the young revelers Β on board were drunk after partying in the ill-fated boat while cruising around Lake Victoria.
According to Uganda deputy police spokesman, Patrick Onyango, the boat was carrying 84 people.
βThe boat was overloaded and secondly there was bad weather,β He told press.Director of operations for the Ugandan police, Asuman Mugenyi, also blamed over-loading and bad weather for the Saturday evening accident.
βWe expect the number of passengers is beyond the capacity of the boat. It was overloaded and unfortunately people were drunk. We suspect the mechanical condition of the boat and the weather contributed to the sinkingβ Mugenyi said.
Video of the revelers who were in the ill-fated boat partying before it sunk have surfaced online.
The young revelers, some of whom are now dead, were drinking booze and dangerously hanging on the ill-fated boat.
They shared the video on their social media pages moments before the boat capsized.
