Treasury acting Cabinet Secretary Ambassador Ukur Yatani has warned against flouting the government’s directive on freezing employment.
Yatani says the freeze is aimed at freeing up funds for the development budget. At the same time he has cautioned government agencies against looting from the public coffers by paying salaries to ghost workers.
Yatani says the Public Service Commission should adhere to the government directive of not hiring more employees to save funds for the full implementation of the big 4 agenda.
Speaking when he presided over the launch of the Public Service Commission 2019-2024 strategic plan in KICC Nairobi, the CS, urged PSC not to focus on increasing salaries of public servants but instead use the monies to invest in projects.

On the other hand, Public Service Commission Chair, Stephen Kirogo is lobbing for increment of budgetary allocation by the treasury saying it was the only way the commission would discharge its mandate effectively.
The 2019-2024 strategic plan launch which also saw the unveiling of PSC’s new logo is the second to be launched by the Commission after the promulgation of the current Constitution in 2010 and seeks to provide prompt, timely, affordable, transparent, accountable, impartial and equitable services to Kenyans.
