32 Succumb to Covid-19 as 661 More Test Positive



Kenya on Friday,10th September, confirmed 661 new Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours. This brings the country’s caseload to 242,945.

Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe said in a press statement that the cases were detected from the 8,141 samples tested, raising the total to 2,444,357. The country’s positivity rate is at 8.1 per cent.

From the cases, 640 are Kenyans while 21 are foreigners with 329 being females and 332 males. The youngest is an 11-day-old infant while the oldest is 102.

Kagwe said 533 patients had recovered from the disease, 416 from the home-based isolation and care programme while 117 are from various health facilities countrywide. The total number of recoveries now stands at 230,940.

Some 32 patients have succumbed to the disease, taking the national death toll to 4,896.

There are 1,723 patients admitted to various health facilities countrywide, while 4,725 are under the home-based isolation and care programme.

At the same time,174 patients are in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), 118 of whom are on ventilatory support and 40 on supplemental oxygen while 16 are under observation.

Another 655 patients are separately on supplemental oxygen with 595 of them in general wards and 60 in High Dependency Units (HDU).
